David John Avery, a full-time product design & development consultant at VLSP (Växjö Linnæus Science Park) and a part-time entrepreneur, has been working closely with Firebush for over two years on various projects, including – but not limited to – custom IOT solutions for home and business.

As a part of our quid pro quo arrangement, a website started being developed a while back, growing overtime from a basic portfolio into a robust multifaceted system.

Powered by a robust CloudLinux environment, our backend relies on PHP 8.2 and MySQL, hosted on an Apache server.

The platform itself is built using Laravel, in strict adherence to OOP / MVC principles. Security measures include user-specific privileges (e.g., access to specific route groups, pages, files and request types) and CSRF protection.

On the frontend, we employ vanilla JavaScript with a few third-party libraries for animations, and Tailwind CSS.

The user-facing part of the website aims to maintain the balance between inspiring creativity and ensuring an adaptive experience that is easy to navigate, be it on mobile or desktop devices.

Arguably, the comparatively vibrant landing page stands in stark contrast to the rest of the layouts, – as seen on e-commerce and portfolio pages, – that focus on providing information relevant to the query, or / and guiding the customer from browsing and research to making a purchase.

The checkout is implemented using a Stripe API integration. Upon placing an order, the user receives a custom branded email listing their items and shipping details. Being TLS-encrypted and sent via an SMTP server with all the headers necessary, the messages reach an almost 100% deliverability, hardly ever landing in spam.

The administrator has full control over the content of the website, be it service descriptions, project pages, products, categories, or any other type of an entry.

Different types of entries have different features relevant to their nature. For instance, projects can have downloadable files attached to them, including Fusion360-native files and other 3d object formats. Products, on the other hand, can be part of a “bundle”, or otherwise relate to some items, e.g. be a component or a variation of.

Notably, any file download requests are only accepted if containing a valid session key, thus blocking downloads via external links. I.e., a person has to view the project page to download a file, which ensures traffic to the website.
